RESOLUTION
NO. 160576
Recognizing Camp Quality and all
its volunteers in the greater Kansas City area for serving children and
families affected by childhood cancer.
WHEREAS, the first
Camp Quality was established by Vera Entwistle in 1983 in Sydney, Australia.
Today Camp Quality has fifteen camps in twelve states and in numerous countries
including New Zealand and India; and
WHEREAS, Camp Quality
is 100% free thanks to an abundance of charitable partners and this allows Camp
Quality to serve more families by eliminating a financial burden; and
WHEREAS, Camp Quality
hosts a week long summer camp experience for children that have cancer along
with their siblings. Although this is their main event each year, Camp Quality
also has many other events open to new families to partake in such as Teen
Weekend, Holiday Party, and Family Weekend; and
WHEREAS, Camp Quality
promotes hope and inspiration while helping children foster life skills to
develop their full potential; and
WHEREAS, Camp Quality
provides families affected by childhood cancer with the opportunity to find joy
and hope through shared experiences and an ongoing support system; and
WHEREAS, Camp
Quality’s program focuses on care for the emotional needs of children and their
families; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby recognize Camp Quality for their relentless support of children
and families affected by childhood cancer; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Crystal Davison and
Bill Maas, Kansas City Chiefs Ambassadors, in token of the appreciation of the
Mayor and Council for many years of dedicated service and their best wishes for
all the years to come.
