RESOLUTION NO. 100211

 

Amending the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan by changing the recommended land use designation from office/institutional to commercial for an area of about 9.2 acres generally located on the northeast corner of 63rd Street and Bushman Drive, to allow for approximately 18,000 square feet building addition to the existing shopping center and parking lot modification. (578-S-2)

 

WHEREAS, on November 7, 2002, the City Council by Resolution No. 021244 adopted the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan as a guide for the future development and redevelopment for the area generally bounded by Wornall Road on the west, Bruce R. Watkins Drive (U.S. Highway 71) on the east, 59th Street on the north and Meyer Boulevard on the south.; and

 

WHEREAS, after further review, it has been deemed appropriate to amend the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan as it affects that area of approximately 9.2 acres generally located on the northeast corner of 63rd Street and Bushman Drive by changing the recommended land use designation from office/ institutional to commercial; and

 

WHEREAS, public notice of the hearing on the second amendment to the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan before the City Plan Commission was published on October 19; 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on November 3, 2009 recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan is hereby amended as to the Proposed Land Use Plan and Map for that area of approximately 9.2 acres at the northeast corner of 63rd Street and Bushman Drive, by changing the recommended land use designation from office/institutional to commercial. A copy of the amendment to the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference.

 

Section B. That the amendment to the 63rd Street Corridor Land Use and Development Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 

Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed amendment hereinabove, all public notices and hearings required by the Zoning Ordinance have been given and had.
