RESOLUTION NO. 050513

Honoring Jere E. Meredith after ten years of service on his retirement from the Public Works Department.

WHEREAS, Jere E. Meredith, employed as assistant director of Public Works since November of 1995; and

WHEREAS, in that capacity, Jere Meredith has served as division engineer for the Street and Traffic Division of Public Works; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure, the Street and Traffic Division has implemented initiatives to improve the safety and enhance traffic flow of city streets; and

WHEREAS, these initiatives include traffic signal improvements, revision of the snow removal program, implementation of a pavement management program and expanded resurfacing program; and

WHEREAS, after years of diligent management of the Street and Traffic Division, Jere Meredith is retiring from public service; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Jere E. Meredith after ten years of service on his retirement from the Public Works Department; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Jere E. Meredith in token of the Mayor and Councils respect and high regard, and their best wishes for a long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
