ORDINANCE NO. 150237

 

Authorizing an agreement with HNTB Corporation for approximately $302,000.00 for design professional services for the 2016 Biennial Bridge Inspection project; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

 

WHEREAS, federal requirements dictate that Kansas City inspect all bridges and large culverts owned by the City every two years; and

 

WHEREAS, continued growth in the City has increased the number of bridges that need to be inspected by outside professionals to 140; and

 

WHEREAS, inspections must be completed by the end of April 2016; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of the Public Works Department is hereby authorized to execute a $302,032.44 contract with HNTB Corporation for design professional services for Project No. 89005568 – 2016 Biennial Bridge Inspection from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 15-2060-897702-B-89005568. A copy of the contract is on file in the Public Works Department.

 

Section 2. That this ordinance, relating to the design, repair, maintenance or construction of a public improvement, is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(D) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
