RESOLUTION NO. 081138

 

Authorizing the City Manager to submit the Overflow Control Plan for both combined and separate sanitary sewer systems overflows to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

WHEREAS, Kansas City is obligated under the Clean Water Act to control overflows from the combined and separate sanitary sewer systems; and

WHEREAS, Kansas City submitted a Conceptual Control Plan for both combined and separate sanitary sewer systems overflows to DNR and EPA in September, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Kansas City received and incorporated comments from both agencies into its final Overflow Control Plan; and

WHEREAS, after five years of public participation, community feedback, and extensive technical analyses, Kansas City has drafted an Overflow Control Plan that allows for maximum use of green solutions to complement or replace gray solutions, wherever practical;  NOW, THEREFORE, 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit the Overflow Control Plan for both combined and separate sanitary sewer systems overflows to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
