RESOLUTION NO. 120839
Declaring
Saturday, September 29, 2012, as Pay Tribute to the American Military.
WHEREAS, on Saturday, September 29,
2012, at 10:00 a.m. the American Royal Parade, Kansas City & American
Agriculture will Pay Tribute to the American Military along Grand Boulevard;
and
WHEREAS, the American Royal is a charity
devoted to supporting youth leadership and agrarian values; and
WHEREAS, for their 87th annual Parade they are
dedicating it to the American Military; and
WHEREAS, over 3,000 people will be marching in
it including over 900 Boy Scouts, 9th Marine Corps with over 100 troops and
vehicles, Gold Star Families and the Patriot Guard Riders, VA, VFW, combines
and tractors, 4H and FFA members, soldiers from Fort Riley and their Generals
Color Guard, General MacWillie, Brigadier General Gordon Davis, Jr. of Fort
Leavenworth, High School and Military Academy marching bands and drill teams,
Kansas National Guard 35th Infantry Division Band, the Missouri National Guard,
JROTC’s from around the region, the New Orleans Marine Corp Band and more; and
WHEREAS, the Grand Marshal is the
Honorable Ike Skelton, along with Deputy Grand Marshals Lieutenant General
Robert Arter, Colonel (Ret.) Donald Ballard, Medal of Honor recipient, and
Mayor Sly James, along with Governor Sam Brownback appearing on horseback; and
WHEREAS, Saturday September 29, 2012, at 10:00
a.m. is time for us to line Grand Boulevard and shout Thank You to our
Military; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That
the Mayor and Council hereby declare
Saturday, September 29, 2012, as Pay Tribute to the American Military; and
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the
Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof is presented to Brant Laue
in appreciation by the Mayor and Council for the many services provided by The
American Royal, Kansas City and American Agriculture to the community.
