RESOLUTION NO. 130323

 

Approving an amendment to the Greater Downtown Area Plan for approximately two (2) acres generally located at the southeast corner of E 24th Street and Troost Avenue by changing the recommended land use from residential medium to downtown residential. (675-S-2)

 

WHEREAS, the Greater Downtown Area Plan was approved as a guide for the development and redevelopment of that area generally bounded by the city limits of North Kansas City on the north, the state line on the west, 31st Street on the south and Woodland Avenue on the east; by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 100049, adopted March 11, 2010; and;

 

WHEREAS, the  Greater Downtown Area Plan was amended on January 17, 2013, with Resolution No. 121046 with Case No. 675-S-1 for an area of less than one acre generally located at the southeast corner of E. 21st Street and Troost Avenue and Missouri Route 71 (1119 E. 21st Street) by changing the recommended land use from Downtown Residential to Industrial. 

 

WHEREAS, the City Development Department has recommended that the land use designations of said Plan be modified to allow Downtown Residential uses in about a two (2) acre  area generally located at the southeast corner of E 24th Street and Troost Avenue; and  

 

WHEREAS, on April 16, 2013, the City Plan Commission recommended approval of such amendment to the Greater Downtown Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the Greater Downtown Area Plan is hereby amended for an area of approximately two (2) acres generally located at the southeast corner of E 24th Street and Troost Avenue by changing the recommended land use from residential medium to downtown residential.

 

Section B. That this amendment is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 

Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed plan, that all public notices and hearings required by law have been given and had.
