RESOLUTION NO. 180688

 

Congratulating the First Class on their graduation from the Kansas City Strategic Partnership Program.

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Strategic Partnership Program is designed for small, minority and women-owned business leaders to learn core construction management and business skills from experienced industry experts; and

 

WHEREAS, this intensive, MBA-style program was announced as a legacy project by Edgemoor in partnership with Clark | Weitz | Clarkson last Spring and 160 small business owners applied and 40 were selected; and

 

WHEREAS, Clark | Weitz | Clarkson, professionals and industry experts, teach this six-month program at no cost to small business owners on Thursday evenings at Morningstar Youth and Family Center, 27th and Prospect, with the generous support of Reverend Miles; and

 

WHEREAS, Kansas City Strategic Partnership Program teaches topics from bidding and bonding to estimating, scheduling and project management along with mastering how to network, strategically grow their business and build capacity to compete for new opportunities in Kansas City and beyond; and

 

WHEREAS, this inaugural graduation class, known as the First Class, was such a great experience that the new session will begin this fall; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate the First Class on their graduation from the Kansas City Strategic Partnership Program; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Geoff Stricker, Managing Director, Edgemoor, and Wesley Stith, Vice President, Clark | Weitzl | Clarkson, with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for their dedication in serving the small businesses in Kansas City.
