COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 910580, AS
AMENDED
Approving a contract with Laidlaw Waste Systems (Kansas
City), Inc. for receipt of solid waste at prices set out in the contract and
recognizing an emergency.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to have new solid waste
contracts in place by June 1, 1991 in order to have a disposal site for solid
waste collected by the City; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Works is
hereby authorized to enter into and execute a contract with Laidlaw Waste
Systems (Kansas City), Inc. for receipt of solid waste from City's work forces,
from City contractors, and from agents of City contractors on the terms set out
therein and with the charges to be as follows:
For residential refuse: $13.50 per ton or
per load of one ton or less
For bulky item or large rubble: $26.00 per
ton or per load of one ton or less
A copy of the said contract is on file in the office of
the City Clerk and is incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. That the Director of Public Works is
hereby authorized to expend up to $129,450.00 as and for consideration in the
aforesaid contract from funds to be appropriated to the following accounts in
the 1991-1992 budget:

Section 3. That this ordinance, being for the
immediate preservation of the public safety, is declared to be an emergency
measure within the provisions of Article II, Section 15 of the Charter of
Kansas City and shall take effect immediately upon passage.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise
unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing
expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in
the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each
sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
