RESOLUTION NO. 960515

 

Declaring the week of May 5-11, 1996, as Drinking Water Week.

 

WHEREAS, our health, comfort and standard of living depend on an abundant supply of safe, high-quality water; and

 

WHEREAS, the problems of water supply are many and are growing more complex; and

 

WHEREAS, the ever-increasing need for water make more and better facilities and more and better-trained personnel essential; and

 

WHEREAS, the men and women in the water supply profession are dedicated, tireless professionals dedicated to preserving the quality of Kansas City's drinking water; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby declare the week of May 5-11, 1996, as Drinking Water Week; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that copies hereof be presented to Gurnie Gunter, Director of Water Services and Frank Pogge, Deputy Director of Water Services in token of the appreciation by the Mayor, Council and citizens for the quality of safe drinking water in Kansas City.
