Honoring
Jeffrey B. Mitchell on his retirement from the City after 30 years of dedicated
service.
WHEREAS, Jeffrey
B. Mitchell has announced his retirement from the City of Kansas City,
Missouri, effective January 1, 2009, having served 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey B.
Mitchell was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and served in the United States
Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey B. Mitchell
met and married Pamela A. Plomboy and has one daughter Porshia Alyce Mitchell;
and
WHEREAS, upon return
from service, Jeffrey B. Mitchell worked for the United States Postal services
while attending Penn Valley Community College, and later Armour Foods; and
WHEREAS, on
December 26, 1978, Jeffrey B. Mitchell began his long distinguished career with
the Public Works Department, Engineering Division, and has spent his entire
career in this same department and division; and
WHEREAS, during
this time, he has worked on a wide range of projects such as capital
improvements, street widening, bridge restoration, and bridge replacements, installation
of sanitary and storm sewers, manhole replacements and rehabilitation, street
overlay, paving, preservation, both federal and city funded, assisted in the
development, implementation and procedures for steel street plate regulation
and in 2004 received the Distinguished Trade/Craft Service Award for Excellence
in Public Service, presented by Public Works Streets and Traffic Division; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey
B. Mitchell has plans to dedicate more time in the counseling and caring of men
in the ministry of Christian transitional living with extended time for family,
fellowship, and fishing; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor
and Council hereby honor Jeffrey B. Mitchell on his retirement from the City
after 30 years of dedicated service; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Jeffrey B. Mitchell in
recognition of his splendid service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and
its citizens.
