ORDINANCE NO. 950493

 

Authorizing a two-month renewal contract beginning May 1, 1995, with Rumble Recycling and Disposal Facility for disposal of refuse at Rumble Landfill; authorizing the expenditure of $138,704.00 for such disposal; and recognizing an emergency.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That an emergency renewal contract for two months between Kansas City, Missouri, through its Director of Public Works, and Rumble Recycling and Disposal Facility, a Missouri corporation, whereby Rumble agrees to receive from City's work forces, from City contractors and from agents of City contractors, and to incorporate into a certain private sanitary landfill referred to as the Rumble Landfill located at Courtney Road and Missouri 291 in Sugar Creek, all solid waste rendered that is acceptable under State regulations for the following agreed prices in amounts not to exceed those shown and from the accounts indicated out of funds to be appropriated effective May 1, 1995, is hereby approved.

 

Section 2. That the charges for such disposal shall be:

 

For residential refuse: $9.45 per ton, provided however, that there shall be a minimum per load charge for trash of $9.45, equal to the

charge for one (1) ton of trash

 

For bulky items and large rubble: $20.02 per ton, provided however, that there shall be a minimum per load charge for bulky items and large rubble of

$20.02.

 

Section 3. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to expend funds to be appropriated in the 1995-96 Budget from the following accounts:

 

Parks and Recreation: 96-203-070-2130-B $ 4,096.00 96-203-070-2140-B 4,096.00

 

Public Works: 96-206-089-2000-B $ 20,000.00 96-100-089-2300-B 120,000.00

 

Water and Pollution Control: 96-801-080-2200-B $ 512.00

 

Section 4. This ordinance, making provision for the immediate preservation of the public health and safety, is recognized to be an emergency measure within the meaning of Article II, Section 15 of the Charter of Kansas City, Missouri, and shall take effect immediately upon passage.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
