RESOLUTION NO. 970099

Expressing the intent of the City to continue discussions with the Housing Authority of Kansas City to identify funding for the Guinotte Manor housing project as approved by Council.

WHEREAS, the Council has approved a Community Unit Project for the rehabilitation and construction of the Guinotte Manor housing project through passage of Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 961291; and

WHEREAS, the approved plan for the Guinotte Manor project, located at 5th Street and Lydia, provides for 219 multi-family units, 22 duplex units and 21 single family houses; and

WHEREAS, the Housing Authority believes that there is a gap in funding the approved plan while the City believes that there are adequate funds available for such approved project; and

WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is important to continue discussions with the Housing Authority for the next ninety (90) days in order to implement the approved plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their intent to continue discussions for the next ninety (90) day period to identify adequate funds for the rehabilitation and construction of the Guinotte Manor housing project as approved pursuant to Committee Substitute for Ordinance No. 961291. The Council further recognizes that the Housing Authority may reapply for the approval of an amendment to the Community Unit Project to allow construction of the initially requested 298 unit plan at the end of the ninety day period if funding is not in place at that time for consideration.
