RESOLUTION NO. 021386

Congratulating Kenneth Hughlon on receiving the Spirit of Philanthropy Youth Award.

WHEREAS, the Spirit of Philanthropy Youth Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals was recently given to Kenneth Hughlon in recognition of his community service; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Hughlon is a student at Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts. As a student, he has completed a substantial number of community service hours and has been active in such groups as Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Generation Rap, the Kauffman Foundation Youth Advisory Board, Student Council, DECA, Project AIM, and the COMBAT Youth Advisory Board, among other organizations; and

WHEREAS, as a member of Junior ROTC, Kenneth has honed his leadership skills and is using his JROTC training to become a responsible and effective citizen; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his school work, community involvement and his JROTC activities, Kenneth Hughlon has worked at Thriftway Grocery Store, with the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department, and at Worlds of Fun; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Hughlon is respected by his teachers and peers, and is to be commended for his commitment to his community; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Kenneth Hughlon on receiving the Spirit of Philanthropy Youth Award; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Kenneth Hughlon with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his outstanding community service.
