RESOLUTION NO. 041394

 

Expressing the Citys intent to fully comply and to require City agencies to fully comply with minority-owned and women-owned business enterprise ordinances in the new Entertainment District, Downtown Arena, Bartle Hall expansion project and any other applicable public projects.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City recognizes the importance of ensuring fair and diverse opportunities within the City for upcoming City projects; and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes the expertise minority-owned and women-owned businesses offer to the City and its vision toward improvement and enterprise; and

 

WHEREAS, we the members of the City Council, in accordance with the Citys current MBE/WBE requirements, direct the City Manager to ensure that diversity be achieved among firms selected, inclusive of MBE and WBE firm, which will more accurately reflect diversity in the metropolitan Kansas City area, in connection with participation in the new Entertainment District, Downtown Arena, Bartle Hall expansion projects and any other applicable public projects; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Manager will comply with existing MBE/WBE policies to reaffirm the Citys commitment to achieving fairness in the selection of MBE/WBE firms for all City contracts; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Council declares its intention to fully comply, and to require City agencies to fully comply, with City ordinances in the selection of minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises for participation in the new Entertainment District, Downtown Arena, Bartle Hall expansion project, and any other applicable public projects.

 

Section 2. That the Council directs the City Manager to ensure diversity among all firms selected inclusive of MBE and WBE firms.

 

Section 3. That the Council directs the City Manager to comply with existing MBE/WBE policies in reaffirming the Citys commitment to achieving fairness in the selection of MBE/WBE firms for all City contracts and to monitor and enforce the same.
