ORDINANCE NO. 100512

 

Accepting and approving a one-year, $400,000.00 grant award agreement with the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City for the Aim4Peace program; with $100,000.00 of the funding dependent upon the Health Department obtaining a $100,000.00 match from non-public resources; increasing revenue and appropriations in the amount of $209,878.00 in the Governmental Grants Fund; designating requisitioning authority to the Director of Health; and recognizing an emergency.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That a grant award agreement between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City, acting through its Executive Director, whereby Health Care Foundation will provide funding for the Aim4Peace program which provides outreach services focused on reducing violent crime by promoting family stability and community capacity building in the urban core for the period beginning April 26, 2010 through August 26, 2011. The total grant amount is not to exceed $400,000.00; $300,000.00 scheduled for disbursement and $100,000.00 contingent upon the Health Department obtaining a $100,000.00 match from non-public resources. A copy of the grant award, in substantial form, is attached and made a part by reference.

 

Section 2. That revenue in the following account of the Governmental Grants Fund is hereby increased in the following amount:

 

11-2480-500001-479985 AIM-4-PEACE $ 209,878.00

 

Section 3. That appropriations in the following accounts of the Governmental Grants Fund are hereby increased in the following amounts:

 

11-2480-505820-A AIM-4-PEACE $ 136,678.00

11-2480-505820-B AIM-4-PEACE 73,200.00

TOTAL $ 209,878.00

 

Section 4. That the Director of Health is hereby designated as requisitioning authority for Account No. 11-2480-505820 and is authorized to expend the sum of $300,000.00 from funds appropriated for the aforesaid contract.

 

Section 5. That this ordinance recognizes an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 503 of the City Charter in that it appropriates money, and shall take effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
