RESOLUTION NO. 070513

Recognizing and expressing appreciation to the Honorable Troy Nash for his service as At-Large Councilmember from the Third District.

WHEREAS, Councilman Troy Nash was elected as the At-Large Councilmember from the Third District in 1999, and reelected in 2003; and

WHEREAS, prior to his service on the Council, he served the people of Kansas City as a council and mayoral aide while earning a law degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Nash served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, provided airlift support for humanitarian, peace-keeping, and disaster relief missions around the world, and received the Air Force Training, the National Defense Service, the Air Force Achievement, and the Good Conduct Medals; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Nash has served as Chair of the Planning, Zoning, and Economic Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Budget and Audit Committee, as a member of the Legislative, Rules and Ethics and the Neighborhood Development and Housing Committees; and

WHEREAS, his leadership in the community has been recognized by many organizations reflected in his service on numerous boards, including the Economic Development Corporation, the Downtown Council, Truman Medical Center, the American Jazz Museum, the Jazz District Redevelopment Corporation, People to People International, the Parking Authority, the Greater Downtown Development Authority and the City Market Oversight Committee; and

WHEREAS, Councilman Nashs commitment to Kansas City has benefited all citizens of Kansas City and the Council desires to express its deep appreciation for his eight years of dedicated service; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend their wholehearted and genuine appreciation to Councilman Troy Nash, for the countless hours of dedicated service he has devoted to Kansas City and its citizens over his eight years as At-Large Councilmember from the Third District; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council as testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Councilman Troy Nash as a token of the high esteem in which he is held.
