RESOLUTION NO. 041006

 

Honoring Richard D. Easley on his retirement from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.

 

WHEREAS, on June 1, 1974, Chief Richard D. Easley joined the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and served at North and East Patrol Divisions, General Vice and Field Services; and

 

WHEREAS, Chief Easley was promoted to Sergeant on January 17, 1982, to Captain on October 26, 1986, to Major on January 20, 1991 and finally was appointed as Chief of Police on April 2, 1999; and

 

WHEREAS, over the years, Chief Easley has been awarded the Meritorious Service Award, a Certificate of Commendation, the Clarence M. Kelley Excellence in Criminal Justice Award and the Park University Hauptmann School of Public Affairs Award; and

 

WHEREAS, Chief Easley is a member of many professional organizations which includes the First Responders Committee-Governor Holdens Panel on Homeland Security; and

 

WHEREAS, Chief Easley is retiring after 30 years as a member of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council honor and commend Chief Richard D. Easley on his retirement from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Richard D. Easley with the best wishes of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City.
