ORDINANCE NO. 060879

 

Authorizing the Director of Water Services to expend $23,735.50 for Change Order No. 3 with Haines and Associates Construction Company, Inc. for Contract No. 7864, Small Main Replacements in Plates J-113, J-114, J-133 and J-134, Hillcrest Road to Stark Avenue, East 91st Street to East 107th Street, for an extension of a water main and authorizing the Director of Finance to return unexpended appropriations to the appropriate account.

 

WHEREAS, the City approved Ordinance No. 050231 in March 2005 appropriating $1,562,000.00 in funds for Contract No. 7864 with Haines and Associates Construction Company, Inc., to provide for new water mains and the transfer of all services on the existing water mains to the new water mains, including complete restoration, and all appurtenances, in Plates J-113, J-114, J-133 and J-134, which are in the area of Hillcrest Road to Stark Avenue, East 91st Street to East 107th Street; and

 

WHEREAS, additional funds are needed due an extension of 120 linear feet of a new 6-inch DIP CI 52 water main from the end of an existing 6-inch water main to provide water service to new houses; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Water Services is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Kansas City, Change Order No. 3 with Haines and Associates Construction Company, Inc., to Contract No. 7864, Small Main Replacements in Plates J-113, J-114, J-133 and J-134, Hillcrest Road to Stark Avenue, East 91st Street to East 107th Street, in the amount of $23,735.50 from funds previously appropriated in Account No. AL-8066-808084-B, Bannister Acres SMR. A copy of the change order is on file in the office of the Director of Water Services.

 

Section 2. That upon completion of the final costs of this contract, the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to return the unexpended portion of this appropriation to the Unappropriated Fund Balance from which it was derived.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
