RESOLUTION NO. 170175

 

Approving an amendment to the Line Creek Valley Area Plan for an area of approximately 3.5 acres, generally located at the southwest corner of N.W. Barry Road and 169 Highway, by changing the recommended land use on the Future Land Use Map from institutional to mixed use community. (686-S-3)

 

WHEREAS, on February 10, 2011, the City Council through the adoption of Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 110030 adopted the Line Creek Valley Area Plan as a guide for the future development and redevelopment for the area generally bounded by M-152 Highway on the north, North Platte Purchase Drive on the east, N.W. Waukomis Drive/N. Green Hills Drive on the west, and N.W. 68th Street on the south; and

 

WHEREAS, with Resolution No. 140987, passed December 11, 2014, the City Council amended the Line Creek Valley Area Plan with Case No. 686-S-1 and Resolution No. 150957, adopted on November 19, 2015 with Case No. 686-S-2; and

 

WHEREAS, due to certain changes, it is desirable to modify certain components of the Line Creek Valley Area Plan by an amendment to the Future Land Use Map and added land use category as it affects that area generally located at the southwest corner of N.W. Barry Road and 169 Highway; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission considered this amendment to the Land Use Plan and Map on January 17, 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, after all interested persons were given an opportunity to present testimony, the City Plan Commission did on January 17, 2017, recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Line Creek Valley Area Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section A. That the Line Creek Valley Area Plan and Map are hereby amended by repealing the Future Land Use Map and approving a new Future Land Use Map which changes the recommended land uses for an area generally located at the southwest corner of N.W. Barry Road and 169 Highway, from institutional to mixed use community and further adding this category to the map, is attached hereto as Exhibit A and is incorporated herein by reference.

 

Section B. That the amendment to the Line Creek Valley Area Plan is consistent and complies with the FOCUS Kansas City Plan, adopted on October 30, 1997, by Committee Substitute for Resolution No. 971268, and is adopted as a supplement to the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.

 

Section C. That the Council finds and declares that before taking any action on the proposed Line Creek Valley Area Plan hereinabove, all public notices have been given and hearings have been had as required by law.
