RESOLUTION NO. 061390

 

Honoring Deputy Chief George F. Roberts on the occasion of his retirement from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.

 

WHEREAS, George F. Roberts, Deputy Chief of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, is retiring from public service after thirty-two years with the Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Roberts began his work with the department in the autumn of 1974, when he began his work as a parking facility attendant. Over the ensuing years, he was promoted numerous times, and in December 1976, he became a probationary police officer. In 1984 he became an investigator, and two years later he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. In 1993, Roberts was named captain, and in 1996 he became Major Roberts. Since October 1998, he has served as Deputy Chief; and

 

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Deputy Chief Roberts has fulfilled a number of assignments, including presidential security at the Western White House from 1972-1974. He has received three special unit citations, three meritorious service awards, and commendation from the Missouri Police Chief Association, of which he was regional vice-president in 2002-2003; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Chief George Roberts leaves the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department with the utmost respect of his colleagues, friends, and residents of this City; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Deputy Chief George Roberts their appreciation, gratitude and best wishes; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Deputy Chief George F. Roberts with appropriate recognition for his service to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.
