ORDINANCE NO. 941433
Approving and accepting an agreement with the Missouri
Department of Health whereby the State will provide $38,004.00 in funding for
support for a Sickle Cell Resource Center in Kansas City for one year beginning
July 1, 1994; authorizing the Director of Health to enter into an agreement
with Truman Medical Center to establish and operate that center for which the
City will provide $36,864.00 in funding; and providing for the cost of
administering the agreements.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the agreement between the State of
Missouri, Department of Health, acting through its Director of Health, and the
Health Department of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of
Health, whereby the State will provide $38,004.00 in funds to allow for the
adequate follow-up of sickle cell patients after they visit the emergency room,
as well as management through hospitalization and with discharge planning and
outpatient management in accordance with guidelines set forth by the Missouri
Department of Health for a period of one year beginning July 1, 1994, is hereby
accepted and approved. A copy of the agreement is attached hereto and made a
part hereof by reference.
Section 2. That the Director of Health is hereby
authorized, on behalf of the City, to enter into an agreement with the Truman
Medical Center, whereby the Center will establish a Sickle Cell Resource Center
for a period of one year beginning July 1, 1994 through June 30, 1995, for
which the City will provide funding in an amount not to exceed $36,864.00 from
funds previously appropriated in Account No. 95-100-050-2320-B. A copy of the
agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
Section 3. That the amount of $1,140.00 as
specified in those agreements may be retained by the Health Department to
partially offset the costs of administering the agreements and may be used for
such purposes as shall be determined by the Director of Health.
I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise
unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing
expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in
the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each
sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
