RESOLUTION NO. 980338

Directing the City Manager to review the election dates available for placing the renewal of the sales tax for public improvements on the ballot and to make a recommendation to the Council on the matter.

WHEREAS, the sales tax for public improvements was approved by the voters of Kansas City in August 1983; and

WHEREAS, under the guidance of the Public Improvements Advisory Committee, the revenue derived from this tax has been utilized to meet the Citys capital improvements needs since the voters approved this tax; and

WHEREAS, the sales tax currently in place will expire on September 30, 2001, and the Council feels it is in the Citys best interests for the voters to renew this tax; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the City Manager is directed to review the election dates available for renewal of the sales tax for public improvements and to present his recommendations to the Council within 30 days from the adoption of this Resolution.
