ORDINANCE NO. 120617
Authorizing the Fire Chief to
execute on behalf of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, an amendment to the
agreement with the City of Liberty, Missouri, currently providing fire service
mutual aid when significant emergency circumstances exist or on an automatic
basis under certain circumstances.
WHEREAS, the law of
the State of Missouri authorizes the City of Kansas City to enter into
agreements with political subdivisions of Missouri and other states for mutual
aid for significant emergencies; and
WHEREAS, pursuant
to Ordinance No. 090816 Kansas City entered into a Fire Service Mutual Aid
Agreement with Liberty; and
WHEREAS, Kansas
City and Liberty entered into the Fire Service Mutual Aid Agreement in 2009, to
provide their respective political subdivisions with the benefits of mutual aid
for significant emergencies or mutual aid on an automatic basis under certain
circumstances; and
WHEREAS, Section
10 of such Fire Service Mutual Aid Agreement allows the parties to amend the
Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City of
Kansas City, Missouri, and the City of Liberty, Missouri, desire to amend their
Fire Service Mutual Aid Agreement in regards to the dispatching of emergency
calls, the emergency radio system and the use of the Fire Academy by Liberty firefighters;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the
Fire Chief is hereby authorized to execute an amendment to the Fire Service Mutual
Aid Agreement with the City of Liberty, Missouri, in regards to the dispatching
of emergency calls, the emergency radio system and the use of the Fire Academy
by Liberty firefighters. A copy of said proposed amendment is attached hereto
and made a part hereof.
