Honoring Senator Charles B.
Wheeler, Jr. for his outstanding contributions and years of service as Chairman
of the Citys Fairness in Construction Board.
WHEREAS, Charles B.
Wheeler, Jr. A.B., M.D., J.D., is a pathologist, lawyer, former western
district judge for Jackson County and former mayor of Kansas City and current
State Senator for Missouri; and
WHEREAS, Senator
Wheeler readily accepted the appointment to the challenging position of
Chairman of the Kansas City Fairness in Construction Board in early 1992; and
WHEREAS, Senator
Wheeler has been Chairman since the Boards inception; and
WHEREAS, Senator
Wheeler, as Chairman, has always provided excellent service to the City and all
of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Senator
Wheeler, as Chairman, successfully worked with the Kansas City construction
industry and its associations, and minority and women-owned businesses and
their associations to advance the effectiveness of the Citys MBE/WBE program;
and
WHEREAS, Senator
Wheeler has always willingly assisted the Citys operating departments in
meeting Project deadlines; and
WHEREAS, Senator
Wheelers work is greatly respected and appreciated by the City, his fellow
Fairness in Construction Board members, the Kansas City construction industry
and its associations, minority and women-owned businesses and their
associations; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby honor Charles B. Wheeler, Jr. for his outstanding contributions
and service to the Kansas City Fairness in Construction Board; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony
thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Charles B. Wheeler, Jr. with the
appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his
commitment to the fairness to all in City construction contracting.
