RESOLUTION NO. 100264

Stating the intent of the Mayor and City Council to identify additional funds for street preservation through the year-end closing of citywide and maintenance accounts in the Capital Improvements Fund.

WHEREAS, City staff will soon complete a year-end closing of accounts in the Capital Improvements Fund; and

WHEREAS, it is likely that this “sweeping” of accounts in the Capital Improvements Fund will make available additional funds for allocation by the Council; and

WHEREAS, the approximately $8 million budgeted in the FY11 Capital Improvements Plan for street preservation is significantly lower than what has been budgeted in previous years; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council wish to allocate as much as $10 million in additional funds for street preservation if this amount can be identified by the year-end closing of citywide and maintenance accounts; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That it is the intent of the Mayor and City Council to identify up to $10 million in additional funds exclusively for street preservation through the year-end closing of citywide and maintenance accounts in the Capital Improvements Fund.
