RESOLUTION NO. 060709
Honoring
Juan M. Rangel, Jr. on the occasion of his leaving HarmonyNCCJ.
WHEREAS, on June 30,
2006, Juan M. Rangel, Jr., will leave HarmonyNCCJ after ten years and become
the new Director of Business Development at the Metropolitan Community College;
and
WHEREAS, in 1995,
Juan Rangel began his association with NCCJ when Anytown came to Kansas City
where he served three years as a volunteer for the new and impactful youth
program; and
WHEREAS, Juan Rangel
became the Executive Director of NCCJ Kansas City Region in 2000 and
continued to grow the Anytown program along with other programmatic expansion
until on September 1, 2005, Juan joined Diane Hershberger as an Executive
Partner of the merged HarmonyNCCJ organization; and
WHEREAS, HarmonyNCCJ
conducts programs for youth and adults, including the Anytown Youth Leadership
Institute, Congressional Partners, College Leadership Institute, and Building
Inclusive Communities; and
WHEREAS, Juan Rangel
is currently a member of the Board of Regents at Northwest Missouri State
University and also serves on the Boards of the Midwest Center for Holocaust
Education, the Kauffman Fund and Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and
Council hereby honor Juan M. Rangel, Jr. on the occasion of his leaving HarmonyNCCJ;
and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Juan M. Rangel, Jr.,
with the congratulations of the Mayor and Council on his many years of
dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City as well as best wishes for his
future endeavors.
