Expressing regrets for the passing of Frank Leonard Shaw, Jr.


WHEREAS, on November 7, 2007, Frank Leonard Shaw Jr., who was born August 15, 1937, passed away at his home surrounded by his family after a long six year battle with cancer, which he never let interfere with his life; and


WHEREAS, Frank was a fighter, a principled man with a strong work ethic and a love for his family who will be truly missed; and


WHEREAS, Frank was a master electrician and a member of IBEW Local Union 124 who co-owned Shaw Electric Company with his brother Dick, a family company that was started by their father in 1933; and


WHEREAS, Frank was a strong man of faith, a sixty-year member of First Presbyterian Church of North Kansas City, Missouri where he served as an elder, he also had a sense of community and was involved in many organizations; and


WHEREAS, Frank was an officer of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), a member of the Fairness in Construction Board (Kansas City, Missouri), a founding member of the Construction Safety Group of Kansas City and a member of the Clay County Building Codes Board, a fifteen year member of the Oakhill Day School, where the Shaw name will be remembered for the Shaw Wing in his familys honor; and


WHEREAS, Frank volunteered his electrical expertise with Habitat for Humanity, serving the community was one of Franks treasured responsibilities; and


WHEREAS, Frank leaves behind Jolene, his wife of twenty-eight years, two brothers, Dick (sister-in-law Virginia), and Ted Shaw; two daughters, Jane Davis (son-in-law Dennis) and Justin Emily Willis (son-in-law Nick), a son John and four beautiful granddaughters, Jessica, Abigail, Sophia and Emily Belle; NOW, THEREFORE,




That the Mayor and Council hereby express regrets for the passing of Frank Leonard Shaw, Jr. and he will be remembered for his commitment to his family, City and company; and


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the family of Frank Leonard Shaw, Jr. in token of the sadness felt by the Mayor and Council on this occasion.
