RESOLUTION NO. 200224

 

Directing the City Manager to identify ways for the City to contribute to economic relief efforts to mitigate the negative impacts of the COVID-19 crisis.

 

WHEREAS, on March 12, 2020, a proclamation of a state of emergency (the “Proclamation”) was issued to allow the City of Kansas City to take measures to reduce the possibility of exposure to COVID-19 and promote the health and safety of Kansas City residents; and

 

WHEREAS, the spread of COVID-19 has necessitated unprecedented health protection and containment measures in the City of Kansas City, regionally, and across the nation; and

 

WHEREAS, these containment measures, necessary to protect public health, have resulted in major disruptions to daily life and economic activity in the city and regionally; and

 

WHEREAS, there are ongoing efforts by local philanthropic, commercial, and governmental entities to address these negative impacts on workers, families, and businesses; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the City Manager is directed to identify ways to proactively support economic relief efforts for Kansas City residents and businesses by March 26, 2020.
