RESOLUTION NO. 921146

 

Declaring the week of October 5 through 9, 1992, Customer Service Week.

 

WHEREAS, City employees involved in meeting the public for the purpose of conducting City business are the first line for communication between the citizen/customer and the City, and the image of the City is created by that initial contact with this City employee and may leave a lasting impression of the City as a whole; and

 

WHEREAS, if that first encounter is professional and courteous, benefits accrue to both the City and the individual citizen in the normal course of business; and

 

WHEREAS, because customer service employees must occasionally endure the wrath of irate citizens while remaining calm, composed and pleasant, they should be recognized for their skill in dealing with citizen complaints; and

 

WHEREAS, they have proven their value to the City and its citizens by discharging the duties of their employment with patience, care and kindness; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in support of its policy of excellence in public service is fortunate that our customer service employees are an integral part of the City's workforce; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council do hereby recognize October 5 through 9, 1992, as Customer Service Week and urge all citizens to take time to recognize the tireless efforts of the City customer service personnel who work diligently to satisfy and inform a diverse citizenry.
