RESOLUTION NO. 081229
Honoring
James T. Nunnelly on his retirement from the Jackson County Prosecutors Office
after 15 years of service.
WHEREAS,
on December 31, 2008, James T. Nunnelly will retire from the Jackson County
Prosecutors Office after 15 years of service; and
WHEREAS,
James is the Program Administrator for COMBAT which is responsible for
administering dedicated tax proceeds for substance abuse programs,
administering and granting a network of 80 community, law enforcement and
public health agencies, and overseeing a $20 million annual budget; and
WHEREAS,
over the course of James career, he has worked as Chief Executive Administrator
at Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, Family Practice Administrator at Trinity
Lutheran Hospital, Surveyor and Field Consultant for the Joint Commission on
the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and was Acting Executive
Director for the Kansas City Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS,
James has been featured in Ebony Magazine and the New York Times and has been
chosen one of Kansas City Stars 150 most influential Kansas Citians, one of
Kansas City Globes 100 most influential African Americans, most Distinguished
Citizen from the Missouri Association of Welfare, and Distinguished Service by
the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; and
WHEREAS, affectionately known as "Granddad" to the many
lives of young people he has touched through his participation on the
Generation Rap program. The "G-Rap" program airs every Saturday
morning on KPRS Radio station where young people from schools all over the K.C.
area discuss issues that affect them; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That
the Mayor and Council hereby honor James T. Nunnelly on his retirement
from the Jackson County Prosecutors Office after 15 years of service; and
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in
testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to James T. Nunnelly in
token of the high esteem with which he is held by the Mayor and Council and
with best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
