RESOLUTION NO. 191031

Honoring Bruce B. Beatty on the occasion of his retirement after 33 years of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Bruce began his career with the City in July 1986 after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Missouri (then known as Central Missouri State University) and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Rockhurst University; and

WHEREAS, Bruce has spent the entire tenure of his employment with the City in the Office of Management and Budget, holding several positions, first as Municipal Management Trainee, and ultimately as Senior Analyst; and

WHEREAS, highlights of Bruce’s career include his leadership in successfully planning and implementing a complex system upgrade to the City’s new budgeting system (“FundKC”), as well as its predecessor, his expertise in budget development and reporting, his adaptability to new challenges and assignments, his preparation of innumerable budget instructions and ordinances, his outreach and training to colleagues about the budget system and budget cycle, and his ongoing mentorship of less-experienced analysts; and

WHEREAS, Bruce is admired by colleagues for his positive attitude, “can-do” approach toward meeting challenges, his constant willingness to assist others, and the calm, deliberate manner in which he approaches issues and concerns – even in the most critical, time-sensitive moments; NOW THEREFORE

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Bruce B. Beatty, on the occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his future, along with their deep appreciation for his years of committed service; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy hereof be presented to Bruce B. Beatty with the Mayor and Council’s best wishes for a long and happy retirement which he so richly deserves.
