ORDINANCE NO. 100964

 

Authorizing the Director of Water Services Department to enter into a $794,607.00 contract with Delich, Roth and Goodwillie, P.A. for Contract No. 181, Project No. 61000080, Levee Certifications; authorizing the Director of Water Services to expend up to $834,000.00 for the project; and authorizing the Director of Finance to return unexpended appropriations to the appropriate account.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Water Services Department is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of Kansas City, Contract No. 181, Project No. 61000080, in the amount of $794,607.00 with Delich, Roth and Goodwillie, P.A. for Levee Certifications, consisting of the work required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to certify the City owned levee units meet the 100-year federal design, construction, maintenance and operation standards to provide protection from the 1% annual chance (100-yr) flood event. The City owns and operates three levee units called the Central Industrial District (CID), East Bottoms and North Airport Levee Units. These levees must be certified in order to be shown on the new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) as providing 1% annual chance flood protection. Work shall also include any necessary design, bidding, and construction services for any repairs identified, as requested by the City. All work will be performed in Clay and Jackson Counties, Missouri. A copy of the contract is on file in the office of the Director of Water Services.

 

Section 2. That the sum of $834,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the Fund Balance of Stormwater Fund 8200 to the following account:

 

11-8200-802331-B-619060 Stormwater Flood Monitoring $834,000.00

 

Section 3. That the Director of Water Services is authorized to expend up to the sum of $834,000.00, from the Fund Balance of Stormwater Fund 8200 to Account No. 11-8200-802331-B-619060, Stormwater Flood Monitoring, appropriated above to satisfy the cost of this contract including contingencies.

 

Section 4. That upon completion of this contract, the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to return the unexpended portion of this appropriation to the Unappropriated Fund Balance from which it was derived.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
