ORDINANCE NO. 900625

Accepting and approving a contract between the City and The Children's Mercy Hospital whereby the Hospital will provide comprehensive health care services to needy children for a one-year period beginning October 1, 1990, for $594,600.00, part of which has been previously appropriated, estimating revenue and appropriating an additional $148,642.00 therefor, providing for the expense of administering the agreement, and recognizing an emergency.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the revenue in the following account of the

General Fund is hereby estimated in the following amount:

1-60571 MCH-Children and Youth Care - 1990 $148,642.00

Section 2. That the sum of $148,642.00 is hereby

appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund Account 1-801 to the following account in the following amount:

1-50227-B MCH Block Grant Contractual Funds $148,642.00

Section 3. That the contract between the City of Kansas

City Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and The Children's Mercy Hospital, a Missouri not for profit corporation acting through its Executive Director, for the period October 1, 1990, through September 30, 1991, in an amount not to exceed $594,600.00 from funds appropriated to Account No. 1-50227-B by this ordinance and by Ordinance No. 65379, whereby the Center will provide comprehensive health care services to children in need is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

Section 4. That the amount of $17,838.00, as specified in

the contract, may be retained by the Health Department to partially offset the cost of administering the Agreement and may be used in such manner and for such purposes as the Director of Health may determine.

Section 5. That this ordinance, making provision for the

expenditure of funds in connection with the preservation of the public health, is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of Article II, Section 15, of the Charter of Kansas City, Missouri, and shall take effect immediately upon passage.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise

unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
