RESOLUTION NO. 100288

 

Honoring Deputy Chief Rachel H. Whipple on her retirement after 30 plus years of dedicated service to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.

 

WAHEREAS, Deputy Chief Whipple entered the Police Training Academy in December 1979 and became a Police Officer in April 1980; and

 

WHEREAS, over the last 30 plus years, Chief Deputy Whipple worked her way up through the ranks becoming a Detective, a Sergeant, a Captain, a Major, a Lt. Colonel, and Interim Chief of Police; and

 

WHEREAS, some of Deputy Chief Whipple’s career projects include implementation of changes required by the Fair Labor Standards Act, member of the Probationary Officer Review Panel, Sexual Harassment Instructor, Officer Evaluation Task Force, Sergeant Evaluation Task Force, Domestic Violence Task Force, Commanders Evaluation Task Force, Chairman of Field Services Bureau Training Committee, Mayor’s Task Force on Violence, Diversification in the Work Place Task Force and Local Investment Commission; and

 

WHEREAS, during her tenure Chief Deputy Whipple has received the Certificate of Commendation, Meritorious Service Award, Special Unit Citation, Certificate of Appreciation, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Good Conduct Award; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Whipple’s name is synonymous with the Police Care Team which is a non-profit organization began in 1992 to assist members of the KCPD in times of need and for which she has been Chairperson for 18 years and worked to raise funds for the organization; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Chief Deputy Rachel H. Whipple, on the occasion of her retirement from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, the heartiest best wishes for her future, together with appreciation for her 30 plus years of dedicated service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Deputy Chief Rachel H. Whipple in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which she so richly deserves.
