Authorizing the Acting Director of Fire to enter into an agreement with St. Lukes Shawnee Mission Medical Group to provide a wellness program for members of the Fire Department.

WHEREAS, St. Lukes Shawnee Mission Medical Group (Provider) has been designated, by competitive bid, to operate a comprehensive physical and psychological wellness program for members of the Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, the Provider and the City are both committed to the delivery of a comprehensive wellness program that embraces both the physical and psychological health of the individual Fire Department officers and employees, designed to improve their lifestyles, protect their physical and psychological health and strengthen individual goals and family relations; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the Acting Director of the Fire Department is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, a one year agreement, plus two yearly option renewals, with the St. Lukes Shawnee Mission Medical Group to operate a comprehensive physical and psychological wellness program consisting of confidential voluntary health risk assessment/training and a confidential employee assistance program. A copy of the agreement is incorporated herein by reference and is on file with the City Clerk.

Section 2. That the Acting Director of Fire is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with St. Lukes Shawnee Mission Medical Group in the amount of $115,310.00 to provide a wellness and employee assistance program for members of the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department from funds heretofore appropriated to Account No. 01-100-023-2000-B.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the of appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
