RESOLUTION NO. 920496

 

Establishing and providing for the City of Kansas City, Missouri Human Rights Commission.

 

WHEREAS, race relations are an important component of the health and well-being of the general welfare of the city metropolitan area; and

 

WHEREAS, the Citizens of Kansas City, Missouri are determined to foster harmony and respect among all its various racial, ethnic, and religious groups; and

 

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of all Kansas Citians to live in an environment free of prejudice, bigotry and sexism;

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That a Human Rights Commission is hereby established and shall consist of a seven member panel which will be appointed by the Mayor of Kansas City. This commission will be comprised of three (3) co-chairs and will report to the Mayor and Council on the state of race relations within Kansas City, Missouri.

 

Each member of the Commission will serve a three (3) year term and the Commission shall meet not less than six (6) times each year. _______________________________________________________
