RESOLUTION NO. 120976

 

Recognizing the 35th Anniversary of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City.

 

WHEREAS, on Thursday, November 15th, The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host the 35th annual Noche De Gala Awards Banquet at Bartle Hall celebrating 35 years of service to the Hispanic Business Community in Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City was founded in 1977 by 25 small business owners who had a vision to ensure the opportunities for Hispanic businesses; and

 

WHEREAS, the United States Hispanic Chamber in Washington D.C. was founded by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City and was headquartered in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri for ten years before moving to Washington D.C. to be closer to Congress and the White House; and

 

WHEREAS, today, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City is now comprised of 450 members making it the 12th largest chamber in the metro and the 15th largest chamber in the region; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the 35th Anniversary of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Carlos Gomez, President, and Board members of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in recognition of their dedication and commitment to the Hispanic community and Kansas City as a whole.
