RESOLUTION NO. 080539

 

Commending the recipients of the 2008 George Ehrlich Achievement in Preservation Award and the Jane Flynn Lifetime Achievement in Preservation Award.

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission of Kansas City, Missouri, created the Preservation Awards to recognize those individuals or groups who have made contributions to historic built environment of Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission voted unanimously to award three Dr. George Ehrlich Achievement in Preservation Award for restoration, including Larry Denton a for the restoration of 5420 Wyandotte; Nathan & Marian Wegener for the restoration of 1841 Pendleton; and Bruce & Jo Ann Rahtjen for the restoration of 532 Olive St; and

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission voted unanimously to award two Dr. George Ehrlich Achievement in Preservation Award for infill design, including; Sandra Petersberg & Mary Carey, property owners and project architect Wolfgang Trost for the infill house built at 601 Brush Creek Blvd; and the Jazz District Redevelopment Corporation, property owners; Moody Nolan (Group One) Architects and Roseman & Associates, project architects; McCormack Barron, developer; Straub Construction, and Rosin Preservation, Preservation Consultant for the compatible infill apartments built at E. 19th Street and Highland in the 18th & Vine Historic District; and

 

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission voted unanimously to award Joe Louis Mattox a Jane Fifield Flynn Lifetime Achievement in Preservation Award for his long standing work as a member the Landmarks Commission, the Historic Kansas City Foundation and at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center and State Museum; and

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Landmarks Commission of Kansas City, Missouri, commends all these people for there dedication to the preservation of Kansas Citys historic properties; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council commends all these people for there dedication to the preservation of Kansas Citys historic properties.

Be it further resolved that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof, and that a copy here of be presented to each of these individuals and groups with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council, and citizens of Kansas City for their commitment to Kansas Citys historic properties.
