RESOLUTION NO. 120323
Honoring
Dennis Anthony on his retirement after 12 years of dedicated service to the
City of Kansas City,
WHEREAS, Dennis Anthony was hired by the City on October 9, 2000; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from the nine week Codes Academy, Dennis served
six years with Neighborhood Preservation Division in Code Enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Dennis moved from Code Enforcement and served as the City
Manager’s Inspector in the Action Center, officer in charge of all maintenance
of Bruce R. Watkins Drive (special assignment), a Public Works Department
Right-of-Way Inspector before returning to the Neighborhood Preservation
Division as a Code Enforcement Officer for the southwest part of Kansas City;
and
WHEREAS, Dennis graduated from Central Missouri State University in May,
1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Major in General
Management; and
WHEREAS, Dennis joined the Navy Reserve in 1972 and retired at the Rank
of Commander, a senior officer position in the United States Naval Reserve, in
the year 2000, which included six years active duty, with several tours
overseas; and
WHEREAS, before coming to work for the City, Dennis served as manager or
supervisor in several Kansas City companies including General Motors, Ford
Motor and Customized Transportation, Inc., and also owned and managed his own
company, Anthony’s Wood Preservation Co., for ten years; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby extend to Dennis Anthony, on the
occasion of his retirement from City service, the heartiest best wishes for his
future, together with appreciation for his 12 years of dedicated service to the
citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes
of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to
Dennis Anthony in token of the Mayor and Council’s respect and high regard for
him and their best wishes for the long and happy retirement which he so richly
deserves.
