RESOLUTION NO. 051400

 

Directing the City Manager to work with the American Royal Association to develop a plan of financing for the implementation of the master development plan presented by the Association.

 

WHEREAS, the American Royal Association (Association) has developed a master plan for the revitalization, construction and expansion of the American Royal Center, Kemper Arena, related city-owned facilities (Facilities) and infrastructure and the immediately surrounding area (Master Plan); and

WHEREAS, the Council supports the Associations efforts to revitalize and expand the Facilities and infrastructure servicing the area for the good of the City, the Association and the entire metropolitan area; and

 

WHEREAS, the implementation of the Master Plan offers great economic benefit to Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, the City and the Association can only realize the economic benefits of the Master Plan if they work cooperatively to develop a financing plan for the implementation of the Master Plan; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That the City Manager is directed to work with the American Royal Association to develop a plan of financing for the implementation of the Master Plan.

 

Section 2. That the City Manager is further directed to present his recommendations regarding the financing to the City Council for its approval.
