ORDINANCE NO. 081275
Reducing the Contingent
Appropriation of the General Fund in the amount of $150,000.00; increasing the
appropriation in Account No. 1000-121460, Development Finance by $150,000.00 to
provide consulting services and other appropriate expenses for the Economically
Distressed Areas Economic Development Task Force; and recognizing an emergency.
WHEREAS, the
City adopted an economic development and incentive policy on September 20,
2007; and
WHEREAS, encouraging economic development
activities within economically distressed areas often requires special and
unique actions; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to place a focus
directly on the required efforts necessary to provide new economic development
activity in economically distressed areas of the City; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 080890 and
Resolution No. 081091 the City established an Economically Distressed Areas
Economic Development Task Force; and
WHEREAS the purpose of the Task Force is to obtain
the input of the stakeholders in economic development in the community and to
develop a plan to encourage the economic development of economically distressed
areas of the City, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That
the appropriation in the following account of the General Fund is reduced by
the following amount.
09-1000-171990-B Contingent
Appropriation $150,000.00
Section 2. That
the sum of $150,000.00 is appropriated from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of
the General Fund to the following account for the purpose of securing
consultant or temporary employee services and paying the necessary and
reasonable expenses of the Task Force:
09-1000-121460-B Development
Finance $150,000.00
Section 3. That
this ordinance is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of
Section 503 of the City Charter in that it appropriates money and shall take
effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify
that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the
appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash
balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund
from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby
incurred.
