RESOLUTION NO. 080746

 

Congratulating Kris Ketz on celebrating his 25th anniversary at KMBC-TV9.

 

WHEREAS, on July 4, 2008, Kris Ketz, morning news anchor for KMBC-TV9 celebrated his 25th year on the air at the Kansas City ABC affiliate; and

 

WHEREAS, Kris joined KMBC in 1983 and is one of the most respected reporters/anchors in Kansas City; and

 

WHEREAS, in October 2007, Kris was named morning news anchor for FirstNews, KMBCs morning show after co-anchoring the 5 p.m. newscast for 15 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Kris is an Emmy-award winning investigative reporter, having captured a regional honor in 1991 for an in-depth report on the influence of the Ku Klux Klan in the Kansas City area and in 2003 was nominated for an Emmy for best anchor; and

 

WHEREAS, a graduate of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, Kris began his career at the age of 18 as a weekend news anchor for radio Station WQUA in Moline, Illinois, he progressed to afternoon and then morning anchor and eventually became the stations news director; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1981, Kris broke into television with WQAD-TV in Moline where his father anchored the news for 35 years and he quickly rose from weekend co-anchor/producer to weeknight co-anchor. A highlight in his career was the chance to co-anchor a Fathers Day edition of KMBC 9 News at 10 with his dad in 1998; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Kris Ketz on celebrating his 25th anniversary at KMBC-TV9; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Kris Ketz with the best wishes of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for many more years of service to the community as a news anchor for KMBC-TV9.
