RESOLUTION NO. 100477

 

Welcoming the Mahidol University International College Team who will be in Kansas City, representing Thailand at NAFSA 2010 Conference in Kansas City, and a reception will be hosted in their honor.

 

WHEREAS, this visit will provide a valuable opportunity to recognize the tremendous importance of education to the economy and to the model of education for our region as well as their region; and

WHEREAS, by linking schools and universities, Kansas City is afforded the opportunity to grow global scale, and

WHEREAS, the Thai community in Kansas City organized a special festivity featuring Thai culture and customs for keeping the presence, history, and culture of their beloved homeland alive in the Midwest; and

WHEREAS, our hand of friendship is extended to Thailand and its people by Kansas City in honor of these guests who contribute so much to the education of their country; and

WHEREAS, the following foreign dignitaries representing Mahidol University International College Team attended the NAFSA conference and special events: Dr. Chariya Brockelman, Former Dean and College Advisor for International Affairs, Dr. Yaowalark Sukthana, Associate Dean for Planning, Research and Development, Dr. Yaowalark Sukthana, Associate Dean for Planning, Research and Development, Mrs. Somluck Lunsucheep, Assistant Dean for Administration, Mr. Brian Phillips, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, and Mr. Michael Naglis, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs; and

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby welcome the Thai delegation to Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the above representatives with the best wishes of the Mayor and Council on their efforts to strength and expand relationships around the globe through education.
