Directing the City Manager to submit comments and projects to be considered for inclusion regarding the 2011-2015 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).


WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has prepared a draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), for state fiscal years 2011 through 2015 (July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2015); and


WHEREAS, the STIP is prepared annually and includes all projects proposed for funding under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), Vision 100-The Century Aviation Reauthorization Act and state revenue; and


WHEREAS, SAFETEA-LU was signed into law August 10, 2005, and it funds highways, highway safety and transit improvements for the five-year period of 2005 through 2009; and


WHEREAS, extensions of SAFETEA-LU continue to provide funding until a new transportation bill is enacted and Missouri’s specific reauthorization amounts are known; and


WHEREAS, the STIP identifies specific projects MoDOT will undertake in the next five years and covers highways, bridges, transit, aviation, rail, waterways, enhancements and other projects. It is a project-specific document that tells Missourians what improvements to expect on their transportation system during this period of time; and


WHEREAS, MoDOT is soliciting public input to be considered for the draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) until June 4, 2010; NOW, THEREFORE,




That the Mayor and Council direct the City Manager to submit the following comments and projects for consideration regarding the STIP:
