RESOLUTION NO. 100797

Congratulating Go Green Recycle on its environmentally conscious recycling practices that benefit the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, on June 4, 2010, Go Green Recycle opened at 6815 Wilson Road and recycles wood, plastic, paper, cardboard, cans, bottles and a large amount of asphalt roof shingles; and

WHEREAS, the owner of Go Green Recycle, Ron Yoder, got into the recycling business in the middle of the cultural “green,” eco-conscious revolution; and

WHEREAS, Go Green has eight employees that separate all of the recyclable materials by hand; and

WHEREAS, the recyclable asphalt shingles go to a grinder that pulverizes the shingles and uses a magnet to separate out the nails; the pulverized asphalt is then sold to a company in St. Joseph, Missouri to be used for local road improvements; and

WHEREAS, an average day for Go Green Recycle is 20-25 truckloads of asphalt shingles which produces approximately 1,500 tons of usable asphalt a month; and

WHEREAS, roofing companies that recycle shingles at Go Green Recycle are part of the “Go Green Team” that display a sticker that says they recycle 100 percent of the refuse that comes from a roofing job and many environmentally conscious customers are happy to see this; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby congratulate Go Green Recycle on its environmentally conscious recycling practices that benefit the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ron Yoder of Go Green Recycle with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for his efforts to live in a cleaner and more eco-friendly community.
