COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 050781

 

Authorizing the Health Department to enter into a contract with MAST to provide a dedicated ambulance service to the residents of Kansas City, Missouri, and with area health centers, Children's Mercy Hospital and Truman Medical Centers to provide primary care for indigent Kansas City residents.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That an agreement between the Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department, acting through its Director of Health, and Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust (MAST), acting through its Executive Director, whereby MAST will provide the City of Kansas City with dedicated ambulance services, in the amount of $14,300,000.00, for a one year period from May 1, 2005 through April 30, 2006 from funds previously appropriated to Account Nos. 06-2330-512140-F and 06-2320-512140-E, is hereby accepted and approved.

 

Section 2. That agreements between the Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department, acting through its Director of Health, and Cabot Westside Clinic, K.C. Free Health Clinic, Northland Health Care Access, Samuel Rodgers Health Services, Swope Parkway Health Services, Children's Mercy Hospital and Truman Medical Center, acting through their Executive Directors, whereby these agencies will provide primary care for the City's indigent residents for the period of May 1, 2005 through April 30, 2006 are hereby accepted and approved. Copies of these agreements, in substantial form, are attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.

06-2330-512150-F Truman Medical Center 24,000,000.00

06-2330-512120-F Childrens Mercy Hospital 1,200,000.00

TOTAL $28,787,197.44

 

Section 3. That this ordinance, making provision for the current expenses of the municipal government, is recognized as an emergency measure within the provisions of Section 15, Article II of the Charter of Kansas City and shall taken effect in accordance with that section.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
