RESOLUTION NO. 120626

Commending the Missouri Boys State Program for training thousands of young men to focus on citizenship.  

WHEREAS, the American Legion Boys State of Missouri commenced its 2012 session on June 16th on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg; and

 

WHEREAS, the program draws together the best and the brightest high school seniors each year in an effort to help lead them down the path of individual success and leadership through doing, not just learning; and

WHEREAS, hundreds of young men from across Missouri participate in the program each year; and

WHEREAS, nearly 100 volunteer staff members help make the program a success; and

WHEREAS, the American Legion Missouri Boys State is the country's premier citizenship training program and has been recognized nationally for its innovative style and training expertise; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council commend the Missouri Boys State Program and its director, Mike Plunkett for its 2012 session; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Mike Plunkett with the best wishes of the Mayor and Council for his continued success with the Missouri Boys State Program.
