RESOLUTION NO. 120503

 

Expressing appreciation and distinction to Beth Murano for the past fifteen years of service as an Assistant City Attorney, and as the City of Kansas City’s first female City Prosecutor.

 

WHEREAS, Beth Murano began her City service in 1997, serving as an Assistant City Prosecutor, and was appointed City Prosecutor in 2004, becoming the first female to hold that position for the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, in January of 2011, Beth transitioned into a new role in the City Attorney’s Office supervising the Neighborhood Improvement Attorney Project whose attorneys are charged with creatively using legal tools both civil and criminal to target areas of concern while improving public safety, life and economic vitality; and

 

WHEREAS, Beth introduced the concept of community prosecution to the City by collaborating on the municipal courts’ implementation of a new case management system product to create an accessible electronic prosecution file for the City Attorney in the office or in court at any time; and

 

WHEREAS, Beth’s awards and honors include a Resolution from the Missouri House of Representative for her leadership; the 2010 Mainstay Award from MainCor, the 2010 President’s Award from Association of Women Lawyers of Kansas City and the KCPD Vice Unit Certificate of Appreciation; and

 

WHEREAS, Beth is a member of the Missouri Municipal & Associate Circuit Court Prosecutor’s Association, the Homelessness Task Force - Law Enforcement and Judicial Subcommittee, past member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby express their heartfelt appreciation to Beth Murano for the countless hours of dedicated service she has selflessly given to the citizens of Kansas City during the past fifteen years; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Beth Murano as a token of the high esteem in which she is held by the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.
