RESOLUTION NO. 120379

 

Honoring Dennis Murphey as a Rich Noll Pacesetter for April, 2012.

 

WHEREAS, the Rich Noll Pacesetter Award has been established to honor City employees who provide excellent service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri; and

 

WHEREAS, the Rich Noll Pacesetter Award is named after Rich Noll, who worked for the City of Kansas City in a variety of capacities over his 26 year career and always exemplified the best attributes of City government in those capacities including customer service, responsiveness, timeliness and teamwork; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis Murphey has set a record pace in helping Kansas City become a role model in the Midwest for how to become a greener, cleaner community; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis’ pro-active approach to climate initiatives involved citizens, government officials, utilities and businesses in the mutually beneficial effort to produce a comprehensive climate plan with goals and actions for reducing our carbon footprint; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis’ involvement in the Green Impact Zone and other important projects has helped the City attract major federal dollars that have improved the quality of life and affordability of homes in the urban core; and

 

WHEREAS, Dennis involved more than 150 people in preparing a plan to deal with climate change in our City, including people who typically were on opposite sides of environmental issues while giving the respect and voice to all in developing a community plan that was adopted unanimously by the Mayor and Council; and

 

WHEREAS, thanks to Dennis, Kansas City was the first city in Missouri to have a comprehensive plan completed and adopted and he has been an active ambassador for Kansas City and has helped other communities follow our lead; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Dennis Murphey as a Rich Noll Pacesetter for the month of April, 2012; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Dennis Murphey with the thanks of the Mayor and Council for his dedication and service to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.
